Effect: The magician fans out cards, and asks a
spectator to choose one. He puts the selected card in the
middle of the deck, and picks 7 cards off the top. He goes
through a series of "Is this your card?", then turns the deck
over, tells the spectator to hold it between the knuckles of
their index and middle finger (facing out), slaps the pile of
cards, and the picked card magically appears!
Card Trick:
There is no preparation for this trick (woo hoo). First,
fan the cards and tell the spectator to pick one. Square the
deck and Palm the card on top, then drop your hand with the
palmed card to the side. Tell them to put their card on top of
the deck, bring your hand up, and slip the palmed card onto
the deck, pretending to square it again. Take the card on top
(telling them its "their" card when its the palmed card), and
stuff it into the middle of the deck somewhere. Then take 7
cards off the deck, and put them into a pile, not letting them
see the card on bottom (its theirs). pull up the first card on
top, and ask them if its theirs, they'll say no. do this two
more times, then turn the deck face up, and tell the spectator
to make a loose fist. The magician puts the cards between the
middle and index fingers of the spectator, and tells them to
hold it snugly, but not too tight. Then, the magician slaps
the pile, and their card (it was actually on the bottom of the
pile) is the only one left. You may want to practice
"slapping" the deck to get it just right.
