Schwinn's
Perfect Card Trick
Original Author: Schwinn R.
Effect: This piece of perfect leger de
main begins with you fanning out the of cards to the spectator
and asking him (her) select a card. After the card is returned
to the top of the deck you begin legitimately shuffling the
cards and making cuts. As you do this say, "You must allow me
four tries to find your card." Next you show him (her) four
cards that are not it from the bottom of the deck. After each
card is confirmed "not it". You then put down the cards in
order. Sighing you say, "It has to be one of these. Lets check
once more." As you say this you put the original forty-eight
cards aside and pick up the four. You show the spectator each
of the cards and when she (he) says they aren't it, you place
them on the persons hand. After in a seemingly desperate
attempt, ask the spectator to check (his) her cards. The
fourth card he (she) checks is it.
Card Trick:
Read the description before reading this. When the
spectator is looking at the card, crimp the corner of the
third card from the top. If the spectator is particularly
difficult to deal with and refuses to take his (her) eyes off
of your hands then explain how important it is that (s)he
examines the card closely so that he not only doesn't forget
it, but also so that he can be sure that you give him back the
original card. When you shuffle be careful to keep the top
four cards in order and unless you work the packet of cards to
the middle, cuts shouldn't be a problem. After a few tries
keeping the cards together and shuffling without hesitation
should be no problem. Work the packet of four to the bottom of
the deck so that the crimped card is on bottom. Show the
spectator that card and after you receive the negative
response put it on the table. Take the next card and put it on
top. If you are questioned, say it is for magical purposes, it
is necessary because it will keep the spectator from seeing
the same card twice. Next show him the new bottom card. Now
use the glide to get the second from the bottom of the deck
card on to the table and take the card you showed the
spectator and put it on top. Next show the spectator the new
bottom card and after you receive the negative response put it
on the table. Take the next card and put it on top. Next show
the spectator the new bottom card and after you receive the
negative response put it on the table. Take the next card and
put it on top once again. Now move the original forty-eight
cards to somewhere that you can't reach take the four cards on
the table and use the glide to get the second from the bottom
of the four card. Put this card on the spectators hand. Next
show the spectator the new bottom card and after you receive
the negative response put it on his (her) hand. Take the next
bottom card and put it on top once again. Show him the last
two cards and put those on top of the other two. Now take each
card from the top down out of his (her) hand showing each one
to him (her). The final card is it.
Note: Whenever you place a card down during this
trick always place it face down.
